Sat, 01 Jan 2000 00:00:00 CST SM_15 <p style="text-align:center"><img class="cke_image" alt="" height="685" src="" width="875" /></p> <p align="center">&nbsp;</p> <p align="center">&nbsp;</p> <p align="center">&nbsp;</p> <p align="center"><strong>Yuma Catholic Student&rsquo;s Spirit of Giving Continues!</strong></p> <p>The Yuma Catholic High School campus and community promotes a commitment to give back and make our world better both locally and globally.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>The Yuma Catholic High School Spanish Club wants to improve the lives of children across the border.&nbsp; They chose to support the youth at the Bethel Orphanage in San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico by donating clothing and toys.</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>The Spanish Club students raised funds by selling snacks at sporting events and seeking donations.&nbsp; They raised funds and turned that into warm coats, shoes, pants and toys!&nbsp; The Spanish Club Faculty Advisor, Mr. David Duran noted, &ldquo;In addition to teaching any subject in school I think it is vital to teach students how to be people of faith.&nbsp; I truly believe that the mission for any person or social club is to give, not to receive.&rdquo;&nbsp; <em>I needed clothes and you clothed me. &nbsp;I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me </em>&ndash; Matthew 25:36</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>The Club President, Natalia Nunez said this about the project, &ldquo;The Spanish Club felt that the children in the orphanage were in the most need.&nbsp; The students at Yuma Catholic have nurturing and supportive parents and are so blessed by our families.&nbsp; We wanted to demonstrate to the children at the orphanage that we care like our YC families.&rdquo;</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Principal Rhett Stallworth said, &ldquo;I am very proud of our YC students.&nbsp; They continue to work diligently to give back to the community that has served them so well over the years.&nbsp; It is heartwarming to watch them grow and mature into young adults that are working very hard to become the next generation of community leaders.&quot;</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>It has been a successful first half of the school year for YC campus student philanthropy.&nbsp; The students supported the Yuma Community Food Bank by donating funds and over 6,000lbs of food for the KECY Food Bowl High School challenge and took home the trophy.&nbsp; They are supporting the U.S. Marine Corps efforts in Toys for Tots.&nbsp; Over $600 was raised at the Rachel Determan Memorial Rib Cook Off and toys are being donated on campus as well.&nbsp;</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Yuma Catholic High School has 374 students, small class sizes, a 100% college acceptance rate, a strong scholar athlete program, religious education, dual and concurrent enrollment classes that count towards college credit from Arizona Western College and the University of Arizona.&nbsp; The faculty and staff at Yuma Catholic maintain a learning environment that fosters the development of morally responsible leaders who volunteer to serve many local organizations.&nbsp; Those who are interested in becoming part of the Yuma Catholic community or want to learn more about our campus and curriculum are welcome to call 317-7902 to schedule a tour or visit our new website at</div> <div align="center">###</div> <div align="center">&nbsp;</div> School Donates to Yuma Community Food Bank Sat, 01 Jan 2000 00:00:00 CST SM_10 <p align="center"><strong>Yuma Catholic Students Make a Difference</strong></p> <p>Yuma Catholic High School promotes a commitment to serve and make our community better.&nbsp;&nbsp; At one of our Friday spirit celebrations, the Engineering 102 Course decided to not just perform the YC Fight Song, but to also raise money for the Yuma Community Food Bank.</p> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Major Philip R.
